Have You Tried J's Asian Kitchen in Seminole Heights Yet?

By Leanna Tillman | The Singing Realtor | Tampa Bay Real Estate

If you haven't been to Seminole Heights lately, you're missing out. This neighborhood keeps getting better. And J's Asian Kitchen is the latest reason I'm telling everyone to make the drive.

It opened back in February on N. Florida Ave., and it's been on my list ever since. I finally made it in — and y'all, I'm already planning my next visit.

What Is J's Asian Kitchen?

It's a pan-Asian restaurant that doesn't try to be just one thing. The menu pulls from Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese cooking. Think noodle bowls, rice dishes, soups, and some really fun small plates. It's the kind of place where you want to order way too much and share everything at the table.

Prices are super reasonable too. Most dishes fall between $5.95 and $18.95. You can absolutely eat well here without spending a lot.

What to Order

Here's what I'd point you toward:

The kimchi fried rice — This is the one. Stir-fried rice, fermented kimchi, and steak all on one plate for $15.95. Fair warning: it's got a real kick to it. Have your drink ready. Worth every bite.

Spicy kara-age — Fried chicken, Japanese-style, with a spicy twist. It's $11.95 and one of those things you'll keep picking at long after you think you're done.

Gyoza — Six dumplings stuffed with spicy beef for $7.95. Get them. Don't skip them.

Traditional beef pho — A classic done right at $16.95. Great option if you want something warm and comforting.

Fried wonton flowers — $8.85 and a great starter to get the table going.

The Vibe

Here's something I didn't expect — the playlist is just as eclectic as the menu. I heard Daddy Yankee one minute and then a Grease soundtrack song the next. It somehow works completely. As someone who sings for a living (yes, really — ask me about it!), I appreciate a place that takes its music seriously. Even if the mix is gloriously random.

The whole place just feels relaxed and fun. It's not fancy, it's just good.

They're open Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Closed on Sundays. It's a dinner spot, so plan accordingly.

Why This Matters If You're Thinking About Seminole Heights

I say this all the time — you don't just buy a house. You buy into a neighborhood. And Seminole Heights is one of the best in Tampa Bay right now.

It's got the character. It's got the history. And it keeps attracting exactly the kind of small, independent businesses that make a community feel alive. J's Asian Kitchen fits right in.

As The Singing Realtor, I work with buyers in Seminole Heights all the time. And when they ask me what it's actually like to live there, I tell them exactly this — it's the kind of neighborhood where a brand-new restaurant opens and the whole community shows up for it.

If you're curious about what it's like to live in Seminole Heights — or what homes are selling for right now — I'd love to chat. That's kind of my thing. 😊
